"In the Beginning ... God"

Genesis 1:1: in (בְּ) the beginning (רֵאשִׁ֖ית) … God (אֱלֹהִ֑ים)

These are the first words recorded in the Bible. Written from right to left, this is what Genesis 1:1 looks like in Hebrew: in (בְּ) the beginning (רֵאשִׁ֖ית) … God (אֱלֹהִ֑ים).

God.

Before there was breath, there was God.

Before there was sound or silence, there was God.
Before there was light or darkness, there was God.

Before time or space,
Before language or sight,
Before culture or race,
Before wrong, before right…

Before science or philosophy,
Before conscience or thought,
Before all that exists,
Before all that does not…

Before glory and honor,
Before praise, before laud,
Before the beginning…

God.

Uncreated (Hab 1:12).
Self-existing (1 Tim 1:17).
God of eternity (Isa 43:13).

He always was (Psa 90:2).
He always is (Rev 1:8).
And He always will be (Isa 57:15).

Without beginning and without end (Rev 22:13).
He is “The One Who Is” (Exod 3:14).
Without progression and without change (Mal 3:6).
He is “The One Who Is” (John 8:48).

He is infinitely above comparison (Isa 40:18).
Infinitely beyond comprehension (Psa 139:6).

All that exists finds its origin in Him (Rom 11:36).
Our existence comes from the God Who Is (Acts 17:25).

“In Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).

We create because God creates (Gen 1:1).
We think because God thinks (Isa 14:24).
We dream because God dreams (Jer 1:5).
We plan because God plans (Eph 1:11).
We choose because God chooses (John 6:70).
We love because God loves (1 John 4:19).
We feel because God feels (Gen 6:7).
We relate because God is relational (Exod 33:11).

We live because God is life (John 1:4).

We know joy because God rejoices (Zeph 3:17).
We know sorrow because God feels sorrow (Gen 6:6).
We know anger because God gets angry (Psa 7:11).
We know hope because God knows tomorrow (Isa 46:10).
We feel because He feels.
We have because He gives.
We know because He knows.
We are because He is…

God.

This is where our story begins.
This is where every story begins.

"In the beginning... God."

ENCOURAGEMENT:

When the eternal God says, “I love you”
It is a love that has no end because it has no beginning (Jer 31:3).
It is a love that cannot be explained (1 John 3:1).
And it cannot be exhausted (Eph 3:19).1

You are eternally secure (John 10:28)
in the everlasting arms (Deut 33:27)
of the God who loves you (John 3:16)
 “world without end” (Isa 45:17).
