Workers of Wickedness

Aug 31, 2025    Jeremiah Knoop

This sermon walks us through Jesus’ parable of the wicked vinedressers in Mark 12 as a final, piercing confrontation with the corrupt religious leaders during the last week of His earthly ministry. Drawing on Isaiah’s vineyard imagery, Jesus exposes Israel’s leaders as unfaithful stewards who repeatedly rejected God’s messengers and would soon murder His beloved Son. The parable reveals God’s astonishing patience, the deceitfulness and progression of sin, and the impossibility of neutrality toward Christ: every heart either submits to Him as Lord or resents His authority. Though God is patient, His patience will not last forever—judgment awaits those who reject the Son, while salvation and belonging are given to those who receive Him. The unavoidable question upon every listener is this: will you crown Him as Lord, or reject Him to your own ruin?
