Blood. Wine. Gospel.

Dec 28, 2025    Jeremiah Knoop

This sermon from Mark 14:23–24 lingers over Jesus’ words at the Lord’s Table—“This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many”—to trace the Bible’s sweeping story of blood and wine as gospel signs. From Passover blood that meant life through substitution, to the Old Testament pattern of covenant sealed by sacrifice, we see why Jesus links His coming death to the gift of eternal life. Then we follow the story of wine as Scripture’s symbol of victory, blessing, gladness, worship, and the joy of God’s coming feast—culminating in Christ’s “cup of redemption.” The message calls the church to celebrate the Table with biblical conviction and gospel joy as we remember that through Christ’s poured-out blood, we are made new and welcomed into the glad presence of God forever.
